Welcome to NYCASE!
Dear Members,
In an effort to support our membership NYCASE continues to post the most recent Federal and State updates to Special Education and Section 504 on our website. We are also continuing to provide a series of virtual update professional development opportunities throughout the year. It is our desire that the NYCASE website be your single point of entry to access updates and resources without having to scroll through an endless sea of e-mails. Now that we have transitioned to our new website, we have migrated some of these content areas to the "Member's Only" section. This will allow us to focus our efforts on the members of our organization and to continue to provide the high quality supports that our membership has come to rely on.
It was great to see so many of you at the 2024 Summer Institute in Albany this July. Please mark your calendars for July 14-16, 2025 for the 23rd Summer Institute! We will be at the Crowne Plaza/Desmond Hotel in Albany N.Y.

Special Education Administrator of the Year Award
Congratulations to our award recipient Jill Cheney-Bovee Assistant Superintendent of the Corinth School District
Information about the award:
The NYCASE Special Education Administrator award is presented annually to recognize an individual who excels in the service of special education, demonstrates solid leadership skills and advocates for the needs of students with disabilities. Criteria include:
- Outstanding leadership across disciplines for the benefit of students with disabilities and special education staff
- 21st century vision for special education that promotes opportunities for all students
- Staff development that promotes current best practices in instruction and support services
- Collaborative partnership with administrative colleagues
- Commitment to and awareness of the needs of students, parents and the community
- Outstanding contributions beyond those expected/required
In addition to these professional qualities, the candidate must
- Be a current member of NYCASE (new members given equal consideration)
- Be a current administrator with demonstrated leadership and accomplishment in the field of Special Education
- The award recipient must attend the NYCASE Summer Institute scheduled July 15-17, 2024 at the Crowne Plaza/Desmond Hotel in Albany N.Y. for recognition
